OVERVIEW

Exploring the city of the major port, its modernity, traditions and culture, you´ll get caught with the warm and joy of the “guayaquileños”.

ITINERARY

We start our day in Seminario or the Iguanas Park where to admire many of these reptiles being the place major attraction, continuing later to the most important church in the city, the “Major Cathedral”, our walk heads to “Malecon 2000” or “Simon Bolivar” being a modern attractive to enjoy of the fluvial landscape of the placid Guayas River and a place to stroll its boardwalk of 2.5 km of distance, considered as global model and declared “healthy public space” by the Panamerican Health Organitations (OPS) and the World´s Health Organization(OMS). Along our walk we will check Plaza Cívica and Plaza Olmedo, two of the important squares in the city, we will also know the neo classic Government and Municipality’s buildings, furthermore we get to visit the historical restored neighborhood “Barrio Las Peñas” at the picturesque colorful housed decorated “Santa Ana’s” foothill, that hosts a splendid view point of the city. Later, we will go also to the “National Cementery” famous due to its mausoleums and marble tombs made by Italian artists in the first decades of the XX century; after that we will drive to the “Guayaquil Historical Park” where to learn about nature and coastal region´s culture of Ecuador, in addition you will find a zoo among native lush vegetation to know different species endangered such as tapirs, squirrel monkeys, crocodiles, slots, macaws and parrots. In the park´s cultural section we could appreciate original residences of the ancient Guayaquil, built on wood during the cacao´s export surge in the XIX century. At the end, we will enjoy of a spectacular view of this charming tropical city from Cerro Paraiso view site, located at Bellavista neighborhood. In the way to your hotel you will know another boardwalk, Malecon del Estero Salado and Centenario Park. From Mondays thru Fridays you could pick the option to visit a toquilla straw hats (panama hats) show room with a wide selection of them. Traditional box lunch is included.
